A Word From Sven
Since my last report in Jan we have played a total of 7 matches, 4 in the league
and 3 cup matches. Lets get the bad news out of the way first. After seeing the fixture list we knew we had a daunting task
ahead , Builth Wells away, Gwernyfed away, Sennybridge home and Rhosgoch away. With almost a full squad v Builth we went into
the game with plenty of confidence and should have come away with all 3 points but a 1-1 draw was quite a decent result all
things considered, then disaster struck as injuries and suspensions all came at once and we travelled to Gwernyfed with a
much depleted side and lost 2-1. The same problems continued against Sennybridge and showed, as chance after chance was squandered
and Sennybridge nicking all three points was daylight robbery but we only had ourselves to blame. For the away game at Rhosgoch
things were looking up slightly with the injury crisis and we welcomed the return of both our top goalscorers Mike Cooper
and Paul Watson but unfortunately, even though they both grabbed a goal a piece, it was not enough and we went down 3-2, I
have to say here that the lads worked very hard and deserved a point, if not more.
In the three cup matches we went down at Hay eventually losing 5-1in the Alfred
Sparey but we did progress to the semi finals of the Radnor Valley Cup after hammering Builth Blues 11 - 0 at the Broadway
earning us a semi final tie v Knighton Town ( to be played at Radnor Valley , date tbc). Last Saturday (18 Mar) we entertained
Newcastle in the Quarter-Finals of the League Cup at and although missing a few key players the lads performed extremely well
and we won the match 2-1 setting up a home tie in the Semi-Final against Newbridge.
So, in summary, Febuary has been a month for the club to learn from , take it
on the chin and move on which is exactly what we are doing.
